On Tuesday, October 15 the Granville Historical Society will welcome members of the Granville Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) in celebration of the 110th anniversary of their charter and present commemorative exhibit.
The program, presented by Granville DAR Chapter Historian and Historical Preservation Chair Elaine Robertson, will focus upon the history of the founding of the National Daughters of the American Revolution in 1890, formation of the Granville Chapter in 1909, and involvement within Granville and surrounding areas. The DAR is a women’s service organization dedicated to promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism, and honoring the patriots of the Revolutionary War. Members of the organization are direct descendants of patriots who took part in the American Revolution.
The program is free and open to the public and begins at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening, October 15 in the meeting room of the Granville Historical Society Museum, 115 E. Broadway in Granville. The Granville DAR commemorative exhibit will be open and light refreshments will be served following the program.
