Tucked amongst these manuscripts is this account written by Mary Fitch Bryant Abbott of the Fitch family’s journey in 1836 from the Hudson Valley to Ohio on the Erie Canal and then the Ohio Canal to Newark, thence to Granville, and finally to the St. Albans farm her father, William Fitch, had purchased from Ralph Granger.
