The past two weeks have primarily focused on preparing the floors.
Quinton Whittington of ASAP Hardwood Flooring sands the old finish off the floor to reveal beautiful native hardwood Ash. This wood flooring was installed in the 1950's.
Seeking a neutral color pallet, members of the Refresh Committee gather to examine samples. Lots of discussion took place. In the end, the committee selected "Classic."
The newly refinished floors brighten the exhibit rooms and reveal its beautiful wood texture. They are now a perfect color complement for the adjoining Cherry woodwork and painted windows.
In the exhibit room where these grand oak cabinets stand, the carpet has been removed. In this room, the cabinets will be restored, the floors will be recarpeted, and the walls will be repainted.
The library bookshelves have been cleared for relocation to the new lobby. However, you can still buy GHS books on the website!
